James Cameron's Avatar Gets a Date!

Avatar, James Cameron's long-awaited non-doc follow-up to his 1997 Oscar-winning blockbuster Titanic, has claimed its date of release, and it's going to be hitting theatres on Memorial Day weekend in 2009. That's in just 27 short months for those who want to start standing in line.

With a cast that includes Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana and Sigourney Weaver, Cameron's sci-fi epic is about a wounded ex-marine, thrust unwillingly into an effort to settle and exploit an exotic planet rich in bio-diversity, who eventually crosses over to lead the indigenous race in a battle for survival.

AVATAR Teaser Poster - and Art? Sure As Hell Looks Like It!!!

Hey folks, Harry here... Super-Junkfood-Cowboy - sent this in. A friend of his was apparently doing something inside WETA when he noticed in the "mood room" this display for AVATAR. He claims that the poster you see was dimensional and would shift as you moved around it, but wasn't lenticular. That new stuff that Drew told us about a few months back, perhaps? And a look on the board gives us other tantalizing looks at various AVATAR-esque things... like faces - of actors and non-actors... environments. It's all very ink-blotty as the below image was exactly what got sent to me. Here you go... Our first look at anything AVATAR!!!

begyndte at læse AVATAR - "scriptment" igår...læste 82 sider (af 114) og stoppede kun fordi det var ved at blive lyst udenfor

Og det lyder godt? Jeg tør ikke læse,(ved heller ikke hvor jeg skulle finde det...), da ville ødelægge filmen tror jeg.

Jeg synes da det lød spændende men jeg læste noget om at der kun blev/blir filmet en måned og resten skulle være CGI, det er jeg nu lidt skeptisk overfor.

Jeg har iøvrigt ikke tænkte mig at læse resten, er blevet spoilet nok.

Moviehole has reprinted quotes from Sigourney Weaver that appeared in Hit about James Cameron's highly-anticipated next film, Avatar:

"It's a fantastic movie.So ambitious. So romantic and sweeping," says Weaver, who was shooting again this week. "I can't wait to get back."

Weaver has only positive things to say about her co-star, "Macbeth" star Worthington.

"He's a terrific actor, he really is. And a lovely guy. I think he's going to do a wonderful job. His humour and charm and just genuineness as a person are very evident as soon as you start working with him."

Weaver says she plays a botanist who mentors Worthington's character.

"I'm not allowed to give too much away, but we have parallel adventures. There's a younger person's story and a smaller, older person's story all happening at the same time. All my scenes are with [Worthington]. It's really a lovely relationship."

Avatar is scheduled to hit theaters on May 22, 2009.

Ribisi Boards Cameron's Avatar

Giovanni Ribisi will star in James Cameron's highly-anticipated 3-D feature Avatar, playing a passive-aggressive character named Selfridge in the Fox film about a band of humans pitted against a distant planet's indigenous inhabitants.

He joins a cast that includes Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, Michelle Rodriguez, Joel David Moore, CCH Pounder, Peter Mensah, Laz Alonso, Wes Studi and Stephen Lang.

The $190 million Avatar is set for release May 22, 2009, and features a blend of live-action photography and new virtual photorealistic production techniques invented by Cameron's team. The film features six computer-generated actors known as "synthespians" and is in production in Los Angeles and next month starts production in New Zealand at Weta Digital.

Cameron is writing and directing as well as producing with Jon Landau and Lightstorm Entertainment.

20th Century Fox har annonceret, at de har rykket premieredatoen for både James Camerons ventede scifi-epos "Avatar" såvel som deres fortsættelse på komedieeventyret "Nat på museet".

Biografgængere må nu vente hele syv måneder længere på 3D-effektfilmen "Avatar", da udgivelsesdatoen er blevet skubbet fra maj måned til 18. december, 2009. Dette bliver gjort for at give Cameron længere tid til det krævende effektarbejde i postproduktionen.
